Meet Shane Zimmerman

Founder of Upright Professional Inspections

Shane Zimmerman began his career designing and building sets for a Christian TV ministry. He spent over 15 years there, designing dozens of sets and learning key aspects of the video industry and management. Mentored by coworkers and his boss, Shane eventually rose to become the studio manager.

In his free time, Shane helped local churches with construction projects and assisted friends with remodeling and repairs. These hands-on experiences expanded his knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and strengthened his communication and teamwork skills.

The history of Upright

From Set Design to Structural Insight

Upright Professional Inspections was built on a foundation of hands-on experience. Founder Shane Zimmerman started in construction and design, where he developed a sharp eye for detail and a strong commitment to doing things right. That same integrity now guides every inspection we perform.

Hurricane Harvey

August 2017

Hurricane Harvey devastated much of Texas—including Dickinson, where Shane and many of his friends lived. As floodwaters rose over four feet, Shane and several close friends lost their homes. He immediately began repairing his own home, completing it in just two weeks, then spent the next six months helping others rebuild theirs.

A New Beginning

January 2019

Shane stepped away from ministry to start a new chapter. The following year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic and hiring freezes, his brother Chris Zimmerman, owner of Check It Out Home Inspections, encouraged him to become a licensed home inspector.

TREC Licensed

March 2021

Shane enrolled in courses at the Champions School of Real Estate and, after six months of study, passed the exam required by the Texas Real Estate Commission.

Hard Earned Experience

2021 - 2024

For the next four years, Shane completed hundreds of inspections for Check It Out Home Inspections. Clients praised his attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to clearly explain deficiencies. Many became repeat clients who requested Shane by name. To this day, Check It Out remains a top inspection company in The Woodlands and surrounding areas.

Married in Waco

May 2024

Shane married his wife, Hannah, and the two began their life together in Waco, TX. Hannah worked at Baylor University, and the couple shared many special moments around town—their first date was at Magnolia, and they were married in the scenic beauty of Cameron Park. They attended Antioch Church, the same church once attended by Chip and Joanna Gaines, and spent their first year of marriage caring for a family member, deepening their commitment to serving others.

Upright Launches

June 2025

By summer 2025, Shane launched Upright Professional Inspections with a clear mission: to help clients understand the true condition of any home or building before they commit to a purchase.
